Last weeks novel was Acceptance by Jeff VanderMeer.
This time, we are given a glimpse into the place that became Area X. Before the strange event that changed everything. The mysterious director that oversaw expedition 12 is also revealed in detail in this novel. Of course, we also get some closure on the biologist from Book 1, and more information from present Area X.
I found this book a bit harder to get through than the first two. The pacing was more like Annihilation (Book 1), with many different times and viewpoints to tie this last novel together. I felt like the book was working hard to tie story lines up and seal the gaps. To just finish.
This novel ends in such a way where you just keep thinking about it. There is a lot of ambiguity from the author, so you are kind of forced to draw some conclusions on your own.
Though good, I would definitely put this at the bottom of this interesting trilogy. But then, ending things is never fun. 3.5 out of 5.
So, on to this week!
This weeks novel is…
Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk.
Technically, I will be listening to this, as I got it in audiobook format. I plan to be pretty busy this week doing menial tasks around the house, so I figured I’d listen to a book while I did. Something more productive than listening to music all day.
That is all for this Novel Monday. See you Wednesday for a Craft Wednesday post!
